For the London to Brighton Bike Ride, Threshold Sport partnered with Kings Ferry to provide dedicated coach transport for riders travelling to the start in London and returning to London after completing the 55-mile route.
The challenge
The London to Brighton Bike Ride sees thousands of participants take on the 55-mile journey from Clapham Common to Brighton seafront, travelling through Mitcham, Carshalton, Chipstead, Banstead and Haywards Heath before tackling the iconic Ditchling Beacon.
With more than 3,000 riders requiring transport at different points throughout the day, Threshold needed a transport partner with the capacity, experience and flexibility to manage a complex event operation.
The availability of public transport also meant dedicated coach services were important in making the event accessible to as many participants as possible.
The solution
With an established relationship spanning several years and a wide range of events, Threshold Sport selected Kings Ferry to deliver the transport operation.
Kings Ferry provided 76 coaches throughout the day, supporting more than 3,000 riders across the pre-event and post-event movements.

More than 1,000 riders were transported from Brighton to London ahead of the event, arriving at the start at Clapham Common.
48 coaches | 12:00–23:00
Following the ride, more than 2,100 riders were transported from Brighton back to London after completing the event.
The operation also included a new halfway parking and coach option, allowing riders to park free of charge and use dedicated transport to support their participation.
Working together to improve the participant experience
The partnership went beyond providing coaches on the day.
Kings Ferry worked closely with Threshold Sport throughout the planning process, taking part in key meetings and helping to develop new processes to improve the overall participant experience.
A flexible approach to booking deadlines also helped Threshold maximise ticket sales, while Kings Ferry's experience of managing changing event requirements provided additional confidence throughout the planning and delivery process.

The transport operation helped provide a reliable and accessible travel solution for thousands of riders, supporting the event from the early morning departures through to the final return journeys.
